Airlines: Dear me the sky is falling
By Bill Fogarty
IATA the International airline trade
association reported recently that the airlines
lost $5 Billion in 2008. That’s Five billion folks.
Nothing when one considers that president Obama is
looking at a fix in the Trillions, but, real money
nonetheless.
As if that wasn’t enough a recent ITB press release
states that the outbound USA travel market is
falling, er, in leaps and bounds. Singapore airlines
lost a bundle in the last quarter of last year and
they are not alone. It’s across the board-no make
that skies-the airline industry is in free fall.
So does that mean there are lots of
bargains in airline seats to be had? Well you tell
me please. I sure as heck don’t see it. Although
airlines are saying how much they are hurting, they
are doing funny things to make the financial pain go
away. I think they are cutting back on routes that
are not reasonably full and making fewer runs on
those that are full.
OK so prove me wrong. So what are we
going to do about it? Our aim with the website Best
Price Air Tickets is to give you a choice. So we
will present advertisements from as many airlines as
we can conjure up and lead you directly to their
sites. Will we get a commission from them is you buy
something? Yes is the answer; but as it is very low,
we don’t expect to get rich. So whether your travel
for business or you are looking for a decently
priced flight we hope that we can help. By the by if
you have got any inside info about airlines and the
way they work, please let our readers know. Bloggit.
